We are Team 11270 Nova, created inside Canadian STEM & AI Academy in Markham, Ontario in the fall of 2025. Our boys team is made up of students in grades 8 through 12, and we work closely with our sister team 9785 to grow robotics opportunities and STEM involvement in our community.

The FIRST Robotics Competition

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a global program where high school teams design, build, and compete in new engineering challenges each year. Below, each season highlights our robot, events, and lessons learned.

Humber Polytechnic Event

March 12 - 14, 2026

At our first event, we overcame intake challenges to rank 9th in qualifications. Team 4039 selected us for Alliance 4 with Team 9562, and we made it to Round 3 in the playoffs.

North Bay Event

March 20 - 22, 2026

After improving our intake, we ranked 3rd in qualifications and formed Alliance 2 with Team 9785 and Team 2013. We were grateful to finish as event champions.

Ontario Provincial Championship

April 16 - 19, 2026

Competing in the Technology Division, we encountered a serious wiring issue with one motor. Despite the setback, Team 2935 selected us to join Alliance 6 alongside Team 5032. We pushed through the challenges and advanced to Round 3 of the playoffs.

FRC World Championship

April 29 - May 2, 2026

At the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championship in Houston, Texas, we competed in the Hopper Division, ranked 27th in qualifications, and joined Alliance 5 for the playoffs.

Community

STEM matters

We promote STEM because it builds problem-solving skills, supports local innovation, and helps students in Markham and beyond.

STEM for Uganda

March 14 - 15, 2026

We hosted a community book and toy sale, raising funds and collecting supplies to support the robotics student teams in Uganda. The initiative helped expand access to STEM learning and hands-on robotics opportunities for local students.

STEM Outreach at CSAA March Camp

March 19, 2026

We introduced our robot and the FIRST Robotics Competition to 40 students (ages 4-14) at the CSAA March Camp, sparking curiosity and excitement for STEM through hands-on learning.
